Will Pokemon X and Y become the fastest selling Nintendo 3DS game? It may not be the biggest game to over cross the handheld. However, it definitely has the biggest amount of hype so far. And hey, this is Pokemon we're talking about. And you know what that means? Our Pokemon blog has more.
Sales
260,000 copies of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y have already been reserved. This means this is a sure number that will add up to the day 1 sales when the games finally release on October. The last main Pokemon games, Pokemon Black and White 2 were able to have a pre-order sales of 1.16 million. Who knows how many units will the new generation of Pokemon games can generate.
Pokemon's Ability to Sell Console Units
It's not just the units, however, because another big factor is the likelihood of the game moving consoles for the Nintendo 3DS system. Pokemon has always been stellar in this regard. Remember the original games? Gameboy was dying, then Pokemon got released. Gameboy got a new lease of life, and the rest is history. It is possible that Pokemon X and Y, with all the hype and new features, will do the same for the Nintendo 3DS.
Well, in Japan, perhaps it won't matter. The Nintendo 3DS XL and its little counterpart are selling like hotcakes. It is quite different in other parts of the world.
But wait, Pokemon X and Y will released simultaneously across all regions on October 12. And since Nintendo may be quite comfortable of the game's ability to sell the consoles, perhaps they want to make an impression.
