Pokemon X and Y Mega Pokémon Announcement

Mega Pokemon have finally been revealed to the worldwide audience through a YouTube video, which you can see below:

As confirmed by the leak, Mega Pokemon are new Pokemon forme of some known Pokemon, like Mewtwo, Lucario, and Blaziken. When the Pokemon has a mega stone, it can transform into a mega Pokemon, which in turn changes their special ability. A Pokemon can only transform to its mega form during battles. This means, it's not really an evolution, but rather a transformation. (Hey, there are Pokemon that transform during battles, right? Special Darmanitans?)

The video also tells us of an upcoming Torchic distribution on the game's release. This Torchic will have a mega stone, which can be used for transforming Blaziken into Mega Blaziken. The Mega Stone cannot be obtained in normal gameplay, says the video.
