I think you have already read it somewhere. After months of pleading, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy is coming to North America. Come 2014, we'll finally be able to play this Square Enix RPG on our Nintendo 3DS systems. Hey, who's not happy that it's coming? No one! However, only one question remains: What will be Bravely Default's title when it comes to the west?
The answer? Still Bravely Default.
However, that's just it. Only Bravely Default without the "Flying Fairy" part. I wonder why. We know whw Bravely Default is an essential title. It's the name of the game's core battle system. (Check out this post to learn more).
Perhaps Nintendo thinks Flying Fairy can be stripped from the game's title. Maybe they think those two words are just a waste of space.
Or maybe they think the title's too feminine. Remember that the 3DS's audience is generally young males. I'm guessing here that the company's line of thinking is that the words "Flying Fairy" might give a connotation that the game's an RPG for female gamers. Of course, it's not. Remember when Disney changed their movie's title from "Rapunzel" to "Tangled". Perhaps this is a business decision that can impact sales.
For the record I am not trying to bash anyone here. >.<I myself do not care if it will be called Bravely Default, or Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, or whatever random name Nintendo comes up with. What matters to me is that the game's coming. That's just it.
And of course, everything's only temporary at this point. Nintendo of Europe mentioned that the game might have a different name there, while NOA said only Bravely Default is the confirmed part in the title. Who would have thought titles are a serious thing?! :)
