Heroes of Ruins Sales Failed to Deliver

Heroes of Ruin

By chance have you played Heroes of Ruin? No? What about the demo? Check out the eShop. Do that and try to convince yourself to buy the game. Why? Well, it looks like the game's sell through is not what N-Space hoped for.

Awesome site Super Phillip Central interviewed N-Space co-founder Dan O'Leary and here's what he has to say about the game:
"No, we’re not satisfied with the sales. The 3DS attach rate is… challenging at best and it seems that, for all its promise, Heroes of Ruin did not appeal to enough of the installed base. I am super pleased with what we made and would love to return to the genre one day, but I fear that Heroes did not have enough commercial impact to justify a sequel. ."
That was... sad. The problem for me to get the game is that, it was very near important release dates of games from the publisher Square Enix - Theatrythm Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. I think I saw other comments with the same notion as well.

Some were saying it was a bad game. Really? There was a demo. I think if it proved to be good then enough people would be convinced to buy the game. Perhaps the demo is the deal-hitter/breaker.

Then there were talks that there weren't enough promotion for the game. People at the source site were talking about promotions in various online gaming sites. I tend to agree with Mr. Matt (from Digitally Downloaded) that the game did promote in the Internet. There was engagement. Perhaps if they promoted more, more people might have bought the game.

But ultimately, this is a combination of a lot of things - support, marketing, and a good game. I am just not the right person to or speak up on what went wrong on those parts thoough.

And then when the game got released, people complained of bugs and other glitches. These things, I guess they should have been addressed by N-Space during the development and ensure no one would experience that. But people did experience it, and the bug complaints spread like wildfire in the Internet.

N-Space is a small video game company. I doubt they have the power to negate this negative PR that happened right after the game got released and I think this discouraged people from buying more.

I wish for the next N-Space game to deliver well. Skylanders 3DS is looking awesome. :)
