We have mentioned before how the Nintendo 3DS game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D kept the handheld afloat during that time when it was struggling. We have also track down how this masterpiece fared in Japan's weekly sales charts. What we haven't tracked yet is its global sales. After all, Zelda is more popular outside its home country.
Our 3DS blog confirmed through a Zelda Dungeon article that the classic Zelda game re-imagined in 3D has already 3 million units in sales worldwide. In a similar fashion, Skyward Sword, the masterpiece of a Wii game also are in those numbers as well.
It's like having 3 million Zelda video games sold and are now running wild in Hyrule Field. We haven't even counted those who bought past Zelda titles and those downloadable Zelda games Nintendo had offered.
Indeed it was a wonderful 25th anniversary for the Zelda franchise as a whole. Here's a toast - from Hyrule, with love.
