You won't see their ads elsewhere than in Japan. But why? |
Yes. Similar to the Dsi systems, the 3DSwill be region-locked.
It was so frustrating not being able to play games from other regions right? Osu Tatakae Ouendan? Anyone? If that game was Dsi-exclusive, international fans would have had zero chance of playing it even though they can understand Japanese.Good thing we can import it and play it in our DS.
Anyway, Eurogamer has an article regarding a Nintendo statement as to why the 3DS is region-locked:
"Nintendo 3DS hardware is available in three versions: Japanese, American and European/Australian. Nintendo has developed different versions of Nintendo 3DS hardware to take into account different languages, age rating requirements and parental control functionality, as well as to ensure compliance with local laws in each region," a Nintendo statement explained.
"Nintendo 3DS also offers network services specifically tailored for each region.
Hmm.What about the gamers outside those territories? I hope Nintendo will deliver its promise of expanding its territories into developing countries in the future. I hope.
