Ace Attorney Demo Preview - Nostalgia and New Features

The Ace Attorney 5 demo can entice fans to play the game
I can definitely feel the Ace Attorney nostalgia when I recently played the Ace Attorney demo earlier.

Waiting for the game for almost 2 years now is something only dedicated fans will do. Some people will just let days go by and will only be happy when news pops up about it. I, for one, did some scouring, and even ask the great Christian Svensson about the status of the game earlier this year. I did get some reply but didn't make a post out of it because, as I've said, it is just a reply and not something newsworthy enough. But now we are near the release date of the next Ace Attorney game and what a way to formulate our initial thoughts but with the demo being released earlier this week for the eShop.

The Ace Attorney demo opens up the way other games before it opens up - a crime about to be committed. What separates this one is of course, the scenes are now in anime style, unlike the comic style in previous Ace Attorney games with little to no movements at all. This does not break the game, as the scene is important in reintroducing us to Phoenix Wright and to new characters like Athena. We also get to find out why Apollo Justice is wearing that eye patch as well.

With regards to Phoenix, you will notice immediately that he has grown older (or mature). Perhaps it is the tone of his voice more than the overcoat being untied. During the case, some of the characters, including the judge, repeatedly mention Wright's "return" to the courtroom and his fame. This can give the fans a sense of nostalgia, while new players won't be able to know exactly what the judge and the other characters meant by saying that.

The Ace Attorney demo is quite short, though it instructs the players how the gameplay works. It also discusses how to use the new feature, where Phoenix can know the emotions of the witness while uttering their statements. This adds new depth during cross examinations, something that was first improved in Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. Nevertheless, it is a welcome addition and I'm quite sure most of the players will be delighted by this new feature.

Does this game makes me more excited with the game? Definitely. It is only a matter of weeks before Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies comes to the Nintendo 3DS eShop. I do hope you buy the game. It's a make or break it time for Ace Attorney. If this one will not be successful in its localized version, I don't think we will receive the next games in the franchise anymore.
