The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Gets a Sequel

Fresh from the latest Nintendo Direct is none other than a brand new Legend of Zelda game. As a 3DS blog, and as a Zelda fan, we have the responsibility, no, the will, to discuss this brand new game set in the world of Hyrule - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 2. The game apparently takes place on the same world as A Link to the Past. Here's a trailer:

Eiji Aonuma, the guy responsible for Zelda games, has admitted that this specific Zelda game has been in the works since 2011. If that is true, then Nintendo really made this a top-secret! Anyway, he also mentioned that there were talks inside Nintendo about restructuring a 2D-Zelda game into 3D. I think, there were reports before that Miyamoto wants A Link to the Past in 3D. Perhaps, this is what he's really hinting at that time!

It is worth noting that "2" in the title only appears in the Japanese Nintendo Direct.
