Pokemon Conquest Walkthrough Part 1

So I fire up Pokemon Conquest and was greeted with the option to start the game;  You choose if you're a boy or a girl and then your name; pretty much some basic stuff at this point.  So starts my notetaking too. :) Take note that this is just the simple Pokemon Conquest walkthrough with no advanced details whatsoever but it can guide you perfectly well into beating the game. :) This is also my first time writing one so please check it out now after the break!

1.1 Introductions

You are in Aurora kingdom and you have an eevee which was somehow an uncommon pokemon. You are having some chitchats until Koroko and Nagayasu from Hideyoshi's army from the nearby Ignis Kingdom come to battle you. This is a tutorial for the basics of the battle.

1.2 First Battle (Tutorial)

You will fight with your eevee. Your friend Oichi will also fight with you thereby giving you access to her jigglypuff. Everything is straightforward. You take turns in moving your Pokemon in a certain square (or space) and then choose "attack" or "wait". You have with you an eevee and a jigglypuff which can only attack an opposing Pokemon if they are on an adjacent square (simply - if the 2 Pokemon are next to each other.) Defeat the bad guys and the link with your Pokemon will increase. The higher the link value, the stronger your Pokemon will be.

1.3 Narrative

At this point, you will be treated to a narrative - warriors and warlords have a special ability to communicate with pokemon who inhabited the entire Ransei region. There is a legend though, that when a Warlord conquers all the kingdoms, the legendary pokemon will reveal itself. This is the reason why the kingdoms are in constant battle with each other.

1.4 Training
You can now go training in the Aurora kingdom. You need to take note at this point that warriors can do only one certain action every in-game month. If you choose Oichi to access the training field, you cannot use her again for the entire month until you move unto the next month. This will be very significant in future events. It's best not to mind it at this point. :)

You will then be ask that you need to move on and conquer other kingdoms. The only one present in the map right now is Ignis Kingdom.

1.5 Ignis Kingdom - Takeover Battle

1.5.1 The Battlefield
Each Kingdom has a theme based on their Pokemon types. Ignis, in this case, is a Fire Kingdom - you will battle with warriors with Fire pokemon on a fire-themed battlefield. And fire pokemon can walk on lava, which gives them an advantage since your eevee and jigglypuff cannot walk there. However, various things can help you at this point:

  1. Go to a square with a hotspring and your hp will be replenished.
  2. Warrior Skill is now available to use (once per battle.) Your skill, when activated will let you move more spaces than usual. Oichi's, on the other hand, will heal your Pokemon if activated
  3. Pokemon have abilities too which are auto-activated. Your eevee's Celebrate Ability can make it move again everytime it defeats an opponent. Jigglypuff will occasionally use its ability called Lullaby to put opposing pokemon to sleep.
Defeat the opposing team and Ignis kingdom will be yours.

1.6 Enter Keiji Maeda  - On Recruiting Allies

At this point, a warrior Keiji Maeda will greet you and tell you how to make allies. There is a cave in Ignis kingdom wherein you can recruit warriors and their Pokemon. When you will be battling for the sake of recruitment, you need to defeat the opposing team in 4 turns or defeat them without you receiving any damage. The battle in the cave is pretty straightforward. Defeat the guy and win him and his charmander.

It only gets complicated when you are recruiting 2 or more warriors at the same time. That's where you strategy should come:

After you recruit the first warrior in the cave, visit it again to find two warriors and 3 pokemon. You can recruit the two warriors with their darumakka and tepig. The strategy here is simple - have your pokemon gang up on one Pokemon BUT make sure eevee will make the final blow so that he can again move and attack (this is because of his ability.) You got to defeat tepig and darumakka first since they are recruitable at the end. If they are out of reach, fire up your warrior skill which will increase your movement range. Defeat the opposing warriors and move on.

1.7 Item and Ponigiri Shops

After this recruitment battle, you can take your time to visit the Item shop and the Ponigiri shop. In the shop, the more charismatic your Pokemon is, the lesser will be the price of the items. The Ponigiri in the other shop will restore energy, or the enthusiasm of your pokemon. It is best if served before battles. Keep in mind that enthusiasm changes every 3 months.

This ends part 1 of my walkthrough of Pokemon Conquest. Tune in next time for the next part! How did it go? Please tell me via the comments section. :) Also if you notice some errors or inconsistencies or best practices, don't be afraid to share them in the comments too. Again, this is just a simple walkthrough and I did not jot down every detail, but I made sure that it is enough to help you beat the game. Thanks!
