Iwata Asks Pokemon Black and White 2

Iwata Asks Pokemon Black and White 2
Satoru Iwata, Nintendo president interviewed 3 key people in Pokemon Black and White 2's development. The interview tackles the decision for a dual sequel, the handheld choice, and the "Two Years Later" theme, among others.

The Choice for a Sequel

Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO of the Pokemon company, mentioned that they were discussing possible things they can do after the release of Pokemon Black and White. The first thought, would of course be a third version, such as the way they did in Platinum for Diamond and Pearl and Emerald, for Ruby and Sapphire. And then they thought that perhaps they can keep things fresh by releasing the dual sequel, thereby breaking a pattern that Pokemon fans have come to expect.

A Continuation - The Choice for the Nintendo DS>

Junichi Masuda, GameFreak Development Head discussed that another reason is that there were other things they wanted to add to Black and White which never made it upon release due to time constraints. It seems that will all the content that Black and White has, it makes me think that they actually wanted it more, like in the way Gold and Silver did in content.

They choose the Nintendo DS because they wanted Black and White 2 to be a continuation of the same world. Naturally, they want everything to feel the same but with all the added aspects that will still make it brand new.

Pokejungle translated the first part of the interview in this article of theirs. Kindly click it for more content. It's thanks to them and their intention of translating the whole thing that we will be able to discern more on what was discussed in the interview.
