Japan Gets Senran Kagura Anime While We Wait For Localization

Senran Kagura
While the Japanese are bracing themselves for an eShop release of Senran Kagura: Burst, they are also busy watching the anime.

Yes. A Senran Kagura anime.

I haven't seen the anime myself (I will, soon) but it looks like it is so popular that 6 DVD and BluRay volumes are coming out in Japan which also has OVA, or original anime extras. OVAs are extra anime episodes (often standalones) where stuff they cannot show on TV gets shown. You know what I mean.

Senran Kagura has been around the news for quite some time now and there is already a fan movement among us non-Japanese who hopes the game can actually get localized. Marvelous AQL, the company behind it, is slowly making it a strong IP that expands to other gaming platforms and of course, merchandise and now - TV. Perhaps it won't be long until Senran Kagura evolves as one of the company's most successful IPs.

But for now, we can only hope for a localization. Anyone interested? Kenichiro Takaki, the producer, hopes for that to happen as well.

Also: Help this site by buying Senran Kagura (JP) on Play-Asia.
