Google Maps in 8-Bit Famicom Dragon Quest Glory

Many people in the video game industry celebrated April Fool's Day with a bang. The best perhaps is the 8-bit re-imagining of the world in Google Maps. It's Dragon Quest meets the Earth.

If you can still check out the April Fool's Day Google Maps site, you can actually zoom in so that you can see other countries that looks removed in the world view. Every city of note has a castle, some has farms, the middle of Africa is of course, a desert. It was done well. Kudos to Google for making this. It didn't fool the hell out of me but to me and to many out there, it's like the search giant giving nods to the video game industry.

And when we talk about 8 - bit, we think about the Famicom. It's like a nod to Japan's gaming tradition as a whole.
