Is Bravely Default The Next IP Square Enix Will Milk?
Bravely Default: Flying Fairy is finally getting the attention it deserves in the west. Much of it is thanks to the announcement of a western release of the game. As such, a recent translation of a Famitsu interview incites that the series will be getting a game every year.
Speaking with Famitsu, producer Tomoya Asano mentioned this:
"My idea is that I want to release a product relating to Bravely Default every year"
Okay, so the original Bravely Default game was released in Japan last year. Bravely Default: For the Sequel will be released later this year. Next year, if we follow Asano-san's thinking, a new Bravely Default game will be release. It may not be main-entry games. There may be spinoffs, if we follow the Square Enix tradition of milking their IPs. However, I expect, all these talks of "new games" every year to only be released in Japan. Or only Japan will experience these new titles. If you guess my line of thinking, I actually don't care if Square Enix will try to release a new game based on the series every year. I don't care, especially if we haven't event experienced the first game.
