Edge Magazine provided the Nintendo fan community another great interview from Shigeru Miyamoto - a man that needs no elaboration if you're into video games. Arguably more important than anyone else out there, Miyamoto-san was interviewed and provided insights on a number of things - including his thoughts about the PS Vita and the Nintendo 3DS Launch.
PS Vita is Powerful But....
Miyamoto candidly stated the the PS Vita is indeed a powerful hardware (well, it will duh if he didn't admit it.) My mind actually raced into thought that Nintendo execs did in fact bought the Sony hardware and examine it in great detail. But no matter, it seems that he was not impressed with the lack of games that the hardware currently is suffering. In order for a product to be strong, according to him, it must have a good combination of software and hardware.Which logically leads us to another thing - when the Nintendo 3DS was launched, it also doesn't have the strong software - hardware combination Miyamoto claims that will make a product (albeit a video game product) succeeds. With that he admits Nintendo's mistakes with the 3DS.
The 3DS Comparison
Miyamoto admited that the Nintendo 3DS did not have a strong software lineup that can make people buy at launch period. Remember? Not just the physical boxed games, but even the eShop was missing! They thought that the consumers will just perceive that the strong software line will come in the future - therefore pitting hope and logically buying the product. But the thing is, the Nintendo 3DS didn't.That's why Mario is at Wii U's Launch
Clearly, it seems that Nintendo defragmented their own mistakes and will try to learn from it. With the launch of the WiiU, the company expects a strong software - hardware combination that will make the gamers buy it.More about Shigeru Miyamoto here in N-Handhelds - Nintendo 3DS News Blog!
