Nintendo Dominates the Charts This Holiday Week!

As we were all happy gathering on the Christmas tables, Nintendo may have had a heart attack if it were a person when it sees Japan's weekly sales charts this week (you bet this Nintendo 3DS blog suffered the same fate too!) But then again, I bet Nintendo knew this would happen, especially in these holiday season when the company always sells a lot of its products.

In the hardware charts, the Nintendo 3DS sold a whooping 482,200 units! With the price drop and all the franchises considered, this is to be expected. But then again, other systems, except for the Playstation Vita also received a major sales boost because of the holiday season and the fact that many people probably had their bonuses.

The Wii, which has already lost its grip in the Japanese market got a huge sales boost - with most of its key software titles also back on the charts!

3DS - 482,200
PSP - 101,121
WII - 91,176
PS3 - 75,943
PS Vita - 72,479
DSI LL - 8,470
DSi - 5,894
XBOX 360 - 4,2451
PS2 - 10.50 <-- wait I think something is wrong but this is what 4gamer had reported.
DS LITE - 32

In the software department, ha, it looks like it was a Nintendo week too. Nintendo 3DS, DS, and Wii titles are all over the sales charts with no room for the Playstation Vita games. I feel bad for the new Sony handheld, but I cannot voice it here in my Nintendo 3DS blog, but I did in some forums. :)

Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land both cross the 1 million mark. Monster Hunter 3G is nearing that mark too. SD Gundam G Generation 3D, which we have covered before here is also in the charts. Meanwhile, Wii titles are also back - heck, even Mario Kart Wii is at number 20!

1. Mario Kart 7 (3DS)
2. Musou Orochi Z (PS3)
3. Super Mario 3D Land (3DS)
4. Monster Hunter 3G (3DS)
5. Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3)
6. Kirby's Return to Dreamland (Wii)

17. Magician's Quest: The Stylish Wizard (NDS)
18. One Piece Gigant Battle 2 (NDS)

What a week it was for Nintendo. Let us expect a slight change in their fiscal forecast when this fiscal year ends.
